I was a part of MOSTEC (MIT Online Science, Technology, and Engineering Community now is under MITES), a summer program run by MIT where students learn about science they are interested in while working on projects related to those interests. In my MOSTEC science writing class we wrote a paper on a complex scientific topic for a general audience.
I wrote my article on how 4 spatial dimensions might appear to our 3D minds and what the likelihood of their being extra dimensions in our universe is. For the paper I researched, contacted, and interviewed multiple researchers on to gain a greater understanding of the topic and add expert opinions to the article. I learned how to write science for a general audience while still communicating enough information necessary to understand the topic.
I also improved my skills in 3D rendering software like blender to create visual aids for the article. My paper was selected to be published in the best of MOSTEC science writing for that year.
